COLTS 1 V 6 PINHOE

Colts played there first competitive game in the E &D YFL. The six one defeat didnt reflect the game as the colts had large amounts of posession including a 20 minute spell in the second half when the colts found themselves camped in the Pinhoe half with a handful of chances on goal only to be denied by the Pinhoe keeper. The colts have a lot of new players and this will take some time to gel as a team. Playing well were Paddy, Jonathen, Felix, Bunker and the two Olivers. Looking foward to the game this weekend against Central who are beatable if we all work hard.

is the grass any greener on the other side

hi natasha, sorry to hear jamie and you have decided to leave the colts it was a bit of a shock as i thought jamie fitted in really well as he is a quiet and timid boy. was hoping this would be the year he would come out of his shell and be a great asset to the team. what was more of a shock was the team he has gone to. please keep intouch and let us know how he is getting on, all the best lester

New kit

Hi boys hope you are having a good break from football, make the most of it as the new season will come around really quick. I have seen the new fixtures and we are playing every weekend starting with a home game against Pinhoe on the 11th september. I have picked up the new kit which looks great, green tops, blacks shorts with white numbers and green socks. This kit was kindly sponsored by Exeter College and arranged by Chri Lorimer which was much appreciated.
We will start back training last week in August, you will need to bring your parents along as we will be signing on for the club and also with the league. This will be at a cost of £10.00 which will cover league fees, photo ID cards and platinum players insurance. Each player will have a pack to fill out on the night of training.
till next time Lester

Yes i know, i have not made any comments so far about the worldcup so i will make up for it now.
We will start with the poor display of the english squad, what a joke i could have done better myself along with the rest of the under 11`s team. They had no desire or passion which should automatically come playing for your country. I put it down to being paid too much, too many foreign players in British football and the fact that we need an English manager that all the players can understand.
Lets move on to the rest of the tournaments shocks, France and Italy finishing at the bottoms of there groups, Ghana was my favourite team, they took the game by the throat and had a go, producing some great football, spectacular goals and celabrations. Just watched the Germany v  Uraguay which was good. Hopfully have time to watch the final tomorrow which i think Holland will nick by one goal.

Onto Kentisbeare colts, as you will all  know we will have a short break through the summer so you can rest and have a holiday, Bill is putting the finishing touches to the pitch ready for next season. The new kit which Exeter College kindly sponsored us is on order and should be ready for a team photo when we start back training at the end of August (dates to follow). Dave will sort out a few freindlies so we can find who will play where. Eleven a-side, full size pitch, offside rules and 4-4-2 i can`t wait. We have a few new players starting which will bring a bit of competition for places and hopefully bring out the best in all the boys. I am hoping to aquire sponsors for a new tracksuit and kit bags for every player. Have a great summer holiday boys and we will see you in August
 Cheers Lester

under 11`s plate

On Sunday 18th April 2010 Kentisbeare Colts under 11`s showed what they are capable of, with an excellent all round team display. Defending in numbers, passing with great accuracy, driving forward as a team.
One win, two draws and a deflected 1-0 lose the Colts produced some of there best football of the season. As a dad and also chairman of the youth f.c  i was very proud of everyone on that pitch, with the thought and expectations of what we could play like next year on a full size pitch.
Tom pulled off some great saves in goal, Jamie (left back) and tom p (right back) worked hard at right and left back clearing when needed. Felix covered every blade of grass across the back line along  with Jonathan  who put himself about with some great tackles,  joe played some good passing football down the right wing with the engine room that is tom(b) working hard to win every ball. Striker tom made space for himself and was unlucky not to score a handfull of goals. Oliver(c) worked well down the left wing with some great deliveries into the box, Ollie(s) looked composed on the wing with some nice runs linking up with the best hold up player in the team Nathan.
well done boys keep it up and i am sure you will be rewarded in the end.
 lester signing out.

RESPECT - A guide for all in football

A subject that is sometimes mentioned on and off the pitch is the element of respect shown for both, players referees and coaches. Take a look at this link -

http://www.thefa.com/Leagues/Respect

It is a guide for everyone. It's a CLEAR Agenda - it's Youth football not adult football it is about having FUN!

Be encouraging - football is about fun, enthusiasm, play and development.

All Players should be given equal opportunities regardless of their play or ability.

'Sub' players fairly and equally, no player will then feel that they are not worthy of playing the game of ENJOYABLE football.
The welfare officer and coach comments where particularly interesting. Rotational play to increase each childs potential was also of interest as mentioned by the child welfare officer.

Winning is 'not' the key thing - it is ALL about enjoyment at a young age.
It seems that the behaviour that we see during adult football and through the media could be a factor as to why expectations have increasingly progressed and have had an impact on children's football.
We all must remember that these are children and they too deserve respect regardless of their ability. Pass this blog on ...
